Happy Friday! I can't believe it's the weekend again!! I'm working on something that is really exciting for me, and I might have accidentally let the secret slip today on my instagram for those who follow (@a_fashion_files), but I can't wait to share it with you guys within the next few weeks. I just want to get everything set in order first--and it does involve crafty DIY type of stuff- so there's a little hint.
Now, onto the DIY. I've made no secret of my love of Honestly WTF's DIY projects. I'm often blown away by their amazing DIYs and am sometimes so inspired by them that I have to create my own. When I saw their floral decoupage bag a few months ago, I was instantly in awe of the finished product. I knew I wanted to create something similar, but with more glitz. So, I waited until I found the perfect bag to DIY, and once I did, I immediately went to the fabric store, found something I loved and came home and got to work!
So, are you guys ready to begin?
Things you will need for this DIY: a bag (I chose to use a foldover style bag so that I could paste the fabric pieces under the flap. You can use any bag you like. I got mine at H&M for around $20 and UO has a great similar style one here). You will also need fabric with a print you like. It's easier to get fabric with a print of larger shapes so that the pieces will be easier to cut & glue onto the bag. You will also need scissors, a cheap paint brush, mod podge and glitter puff paint (if you are lining the edges).

You will also need scissors, a cheap paint brush, mod podge and glitter puff paint (if you are lining the edges).
1. Gather your supplies.
2. Cut out several large shapes from the fabric to be applied onto your bag.
3. Lay out your pieces in a pattern that you want to apply them onto your bag.
4. Using the mod podge, add a thin layer of glue to the back of the fabric pieces.
5. Secure the pieces firmly in place.
6. Once all of the pieces have been glued on, add a thin layer of the mod podge on top of the fabric pieces to make sure they are on extra strong.
At this point, you can leave the bag as is, or continue on to add glitter.
7. Using puff paint, line the edges and/or add dots for extra detailing.
A close-up of the detailing.
Enjoy your new customized bag!
What do you guys think? Will you try it? P.S. The winner of the blog contest will be contacted today!
Have a great weekend!! Don't forget to follow on Bloglovin' :)
