DIY: Vintage Hello Kitty Charm Necklace

Happy Friday!  I don't know about you guys- but for me, the week has been never-ending.  I honestly have no idea why--it was just one of those weeks that keep dragging on and on, and everyday I would wake up wondering if it was Friday yet.  So, I'm ready for the holiday weekend!  We don't really have any plans, which is actually pretty exciting to me because I'm really into the idea of relaxing this weekend.  What are your plans for the holiday weekend?

Moving onto the DIY.  This week I decided to make a charm necklace using some of the vintage mini Hello Kitty figures that I have been collecting over the years (and I have TONS!)  I absolutely love vintage charm necklaces (and Hello Kitty of course!) so I thought this would be a fun project.  I also made some matching bracelets too.  All of these items are now available for sale in my etsy shop! :)

Things you will need for this DIY: A chain- I'm using an antique colored chain to go with my charms.  You can find these at craft stores such as Jo-Ann's and Michaels.  You'll also need small bead rings to attach the charms, a variety of charms (I'm using vintage Hello Kitty pieces) and something for closing the necklace.  To close this necklace, I'm using ribbon.  Lastly, you'll need jewelry pliers for opening and closing the rings.

So are you ready to begin?

1. Gather your materials.

 2. Pick out the charms you want to use and line them up.  Make sure you have one charm that will be your center focus and an equal amount of charms on both sides of the center charm.

3. Attach your first charm in the center using a jewelry ring.

4. Continue to add the charms on both sides of the necklace until all the charms have been added.

5. Tie a ribbon at the end of one side, leaving space on both sides so that it can loop through the other side to tie a bow.

It's complete!!

7. Wear & enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this week's DIY!  Will you try it?

Summer Nights...

...are coming to an end..but I still felt the need to indulge in a few more light summer outfits before the cool weather takes over.  Last night I chose to wear a pale pink skirt (which I'm definitely planning to take into fall!) and a cropped top (the first time I've ever braved one of these) with my ever-present nude pumps.  What do you guys think of my pairing?

Kawaii Kitsch by A's Fashion Files- My New Etsy Shop :)

First of all, I want to thank you all so much for your continued support.  I can not tell you enough how much your comments, sweet emails and generosity have meant to me.  When I first started blogging, I had no idea that my blog would grow in many directions and allow me to do so many things I love.  For me, being artistic and making things makes me ridiculously happy, as I have been an artist my entire life.  As my Friday DIY projects quickly became a huge part of my blog, I decided that I really wanted to expand my creativity into an Etsy shop, where my readers would be able to buy the things I make (and then some!)  My hope is that this will eventually become my full-time job, as I am definitely the happiest when I'm sitting at my craft table painting and DIY'ing away.  Each item in my shop has been carefully handmade by myself, and I also offer many customized items, including ones from popular posts such as the Miu Miu-inspired shoes.

So, please check out my new shop, Kawaii Kitsch by A's Fashion Files and spread the word to your friends who may be looking for some cute handmade things!  And if you have any ideas for something you would like made, please don't hesitate to message me!  Thank you so much!!!

Below are a few things offered at my shop!  Please visit the store for MANY MORE!!  And through the end of the month, all readers of A's Fashion Files can take 10% off any order by using the coupon code AFASHIONFILES at checkout. :)

Thank you so much for reading!  Have a great weekend!!

The Floral Ballet

Ok, I know you're wondering why on earth I decided to name this post The Floral Ballet but in my mind, I find good reasoning behind it.  When I first saw this top, with all of it's tulle-fanciness swirled into ballerina pink-colored flowers, I knew I was in love.  At first I planned to wear it with just a pair of printed skinny jeans, but once I saw this unworn Aqua dress hanging in my closet (yes, dress, not a skirt), I knew the two together would create my version of a floral ballerina look.  The shape of the dress (conformed to a skirt) is perfectly structured for the well-balanced ballerina, that of which I am not (though I've always wanted to take ballet!)  So what do you guys think of my look?

Also, please don't forget to enter the $50 Giftcard Giveaway from Mont Affair here!!!  It's incredibly easy to join, and the giveaway is open through the end of the month.

Lastly, please, please, please check back in on Friday!!  I've had such a hard time keeping it a secret, but I have some super exciting news that I can't wait to share with you guys!!
