Fall Florals

I never thought I would see the words "fall" and "floral" in the same sentence together but when I saw these cords at Madewell the other day, they instantly pulled me in.  I had been wanting cords for fall and of course, anything that has a funky print has my name written all over it! ;)

PS.  With the holidays coming up, I know that many of you are going to be looking for gifts for loved ones.  As much as I love shopping (and you know I do), I would like to encourage you all to support a small business this holiday season.  I try to buy from etsy sellers and other small businesses as much as a can because I feel like I'm not only getting something that's unique and often handmade, but I'm also helping an individual turn a small business into something more.

This weekend, Kawaii Kitsch will be at Unique LA, and I'm beyond excited.  Unique LA is an event of over 300+ hand-selected vendors who all make their items in the US.  Before this year, I was always a customer to Unique, and needless to say, I've always been impressed and in awe in all of the unique vendors there.  I'm so honored and excited to be representing my brand there this weekend.  If you are in the LA area, I would highly encourage you to attend.  Next week, I'll have photos from Unique, as well as photos from my first trunk show that I participated in last weekend!

Vintage Maps

As many of you guys know, my husband and I moved into our house about a month ago.  Although we are making updates to the house, there are many things I instantly fell in love with and wanted to keep original--this large map covering an office wall is one example.  The map is probably around 15 x 12 feet and as soon as I saw it, I knew that this house was meant to be for us.  Originally, we hadn't planned on looking for a house until after the new year, so when our realtor asked us why we were putting in an offer early, my husband responded, "well, my wife is in love with the map!"

Unicorn Hair & Pirate Flair

OK, let's start with the top...you guys have seen me wear shirts made by my grandmother before, but this top stands out to me because it reminds me somewhat of the pirate shirt from the Seinfeld episode in season 5 called "The Puffy Shirt".  When my grandma first asked me if I wanted it, I instantly thought back to Seinfeld and wondered how I would make it work...it's over-the-top bright (so bright that you can't even see it in the photos, really) and the sleeves are beyond puffy.  But, I just feel like it's appropriate with this blue velvet skirt.  I mean what pirate doesn't wear velvet, right?

Oh, and the pink clip-ins...this also goes back to my grandma.  When she was here visiting a few months ago we found them in UO after I told her I wanted to be a unicorn for halloween.  For some reason I correlate unicorns with pink hair.  Anyways, I didn't get to do the whole Unicorn thing because of the move, but maybe next year..

Holiday Dress Wish List

With the holidays around the corner, I've been buying up dresses like crazy for holiday parties, cocktail events, and company xmas parties.  In order to not overspend, especially with the new house and all, I decided to put together a list of 5 MUST-HAVE types of dresses for this holiday season.  I think that these dresses can be worn for parties, social events & even New Years Eve.  All of these dresses can be worn for parties and are really budget friendly.  What do you guys think of my picks?  What are your ideas of holiday-friendly dresses?

A Mixing of Dark Neutrals

When fall weather comes around, I feel like it's totally acceptable to blend all kinds of dark neutrals together.  Take my outfit for example- navy shorts, grey over-the-knee socks, a black sweater and a tan top & bag, I'm a huge cluster of dark neutrals...but for me, it works.  What about you guys?  Do you stick to only wearing navy or black?  Or black or brown?  Or do you mix them all in like me?

Introducing Yurii

I know that a lot of you guys caught glimpses of Yurii from the past few posts or from my numerous instagram (@a_fashion_files) photos, (hey, I'm a new puggy-mom! :) but I felt like I needed to formally introduce him to the world, or at least to those of you who read my blog. :)

If any of you have ever read my "About me" blurb, then you know how I've had a long obsession with pugs (I should probably change that now!) and so I felt so lucky when I had the opportunity to adopt Yurii.  He's such a funny little guy and we feel so privileged to have him in our little family. :)

PS- last night I went to the Hello Kitty for F21 launch party & Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II 10p sneak peak!!  Did any of you guys shop online for the F21 Hello Kitty collection?!!  Are there any other Twihards here that went to the 10p sneak or 12a showing? :)

1. Car ride home after I first picked him up!  So happy & excited! :)

2. Working hard...errr...maybe playing on photobooth :); 3. Yurii, wondering if he is a pug or a frog;
4. On the first night, already sleeping on me :); 5. Being introduced to our paper pug, Frankie.  Yurii was so confused as to why he didn't have a scent!

6. Peeking out from around the corner; 7. This was the photo I used to introduce him on FB.  I can't get over his little one tooth! :)
8. Asking me to carry him up the stairs; 9. Sunbathing

10. Just being cute; 11. Looking like a mix between ET, Yoda and an Ewok; 12. Sleeping on my lap while I'm at work; 13. Hiding under the covers on a cold morning; 14. Snuggling with dad; 15. Being tortured with a tutu that my MIL got me while I was in my "I want to be a ballerina" phase :)

16 & 17. Spending time with mom :)
